This wholesome recipe will have them screamin'... for seconds!
Seriously, while the spooky season is skella rad, this recipe is love at first bite, year-round.
Give it a try! Rat shape not necessary. ;)
RECIPE
We call it "muttloaf" as any breed will do! It's a great way to use up any Elwood's meat in the back of the freezer. This week, we got creative, using the last of 2023's ground rotsky, some minced jack russell, and our newest addition: ground boerbel.
- Ingredients -
2.25 lbs. ground mutt (defrost an hr if frozen--but not on the counter like we did. 🙄)
5 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 white onion, chopped
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp dried parsley flakes
1 tsp cumin
1/4 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp salt
5 plain crackers
2 large pom eggs, whisked
To ratify your muttloaf, you'll need:
3 pimento olives
1 slice of hormone-free beaglogna, cut into two ears
1 organic pug hot dog cut into a rat tail
3 spaghetti noodles, broken into whiskers
Skeleton feet (optional!)
- Method -
Pre-heat the oven to 400ºF.
Mutt loaf: Hand mix it all together. Trust us. You'll want to use your hands. It makes it so much easier to get all the bits blended and it's also kinda fun. Also, it's Halloween. Form into a giant rat loaf. Add ears, eyes, tail, and whiskers if desired.
Bake for 30-45 min or until brown and cooked all the way through (a lot depends on the size of your loaf).
Add skeleton feet before serving.
BONE-APPETIT! 💀😂
